The fourteen main stars of Purple Star Astrology (Zi Wei Dou Shu, 紫微斗数)

Your birth date and hour place these fourteen named markers around a ring of twelve palaces, each palace one part of life. The one in your Self palace is read as your main character. Each page has what the classic Zi Wei Dou Shu Quan Shu says the star is, and its line for every palace.

What Purple Star Astrology is, and how a chart is built

The Emperor (Zi Wei, 紫微)

Leads and takes the centre. Needs able people beside it — alone, a ruler with no court.

The Strategist (Tian Ji, 天机)

The thinker: quick, adaptable, good with plans, and meets change as it comes.

The Sun (Tai Yang, 太阳)

Gives out and is seen. Tied to career, rank and public standing.

The Iron (Wu Qu, 武曲)

The money star. Hard and decisive — effective more than warm.

The Blessing (Tian Tong, 天同)

Ease and contentment. Honest, mild, hard to ruffle.

The Mystic (Lian Zhen, 廉贞)

Intensity. Authority when well placed, trouble when not — seldom in between.

The Treasury (Tian Fu, 天府)

Keeps and protects. Wealth that is stored rather than started.

The Moon (Tai Yin, 太阴)

Quiet wealth that builds up; home and property. Clever and even-tempered.

The Wolf (Tan Lang, 贪狼)

Appetite and attraction — charm and cunning in the same person.

The Voice (Ju Men, 巨门)

Speech, and the doubts and disputes that come with it.

The Minister (Tian Xiang, 天相)

Trusted with authority — the seal of office. Plain-spoken; does not fake things.

The Elder (Tian Liang, 天梁)

Shelter and protection; calms what is harsh. Open and unassuming.

The General (Qi Sha, 七杀)

Command and discipline. Acts alone; big wins and big losses.

The Disruptor (Po Jun, 破军)

Spends and wears down. Restless, and not easy to get along with.

Which star is in your Self palace?

That needs your birth hour and place. The chart corrects the hour to true solar time, using the timezone actually in force in your birth year.
