How to read the chart
The chart is a ring of twelve boxes called palaces, each standing for one area of your life — yourself, money, marriage, career and so on. Your birth date and hour decide which stars land in which box, and the stars in a box colour how that part of your life goes.
The fourteen main stars
These are not stars in the sky. They are fourteen named markers that your birth date and hour place around the ring of palaces. The one that lands in your Self palace (Ming Gong, 命宫) — the box that stands for you — is read as your main character.
Some charts have no main star in the Self palace. The chart then borrows the stars from the palace opposite — a borrowed-star chart (Jie Xing An Ming, 借星安命). That is a type of chart, not a defect.
Why the birth hour (shichen, 时辰) has to be right
Where your Self palace sits is set by your birth month and your birth hour together. The day is split into twelve two-hour blocks; get the block wrong by one and the Self palace moves to a different box, the main star changes with it, and the whole reading is different.
And the hour comes from true solar time — where the sun actually was — not clock time. About a quarter of people born in Peninsular Malaysia or Singapore before 1982 end up with the wrong main star because of it. How to check your own.
Say something back
Every reading here traces to a named text, and that much a machine can check. Whether any of it reads well is not something a machine can check — only a person can. If a passage made no sense, or read badly, or sounded like nonsense, say so plainly.
This form does not carry your birth details. What is stored is your message, whatever contact you chose to give, the page path with everything after the question mark cut off, and a visitor hash whose salt rotates daily — nothing tied to a chart, and nothing reversible to a person.
