Yang Fire Tiger (Bing Yin, 丙寅) day pillar
A Yang Fire day master, the Sun, sitting on the Tiger.
Your day pillar is the pair of characters for the day you were born. The top one, the stem, is your day master — you. The bottom one, the branch, is what it sits on. The sixty pillars come round in turn, one a day, so about one person in sixty was born on a Bing Yin day.
Its sound element: Fire in the Furnace (Lu Zhong Huo, 炉中火)

What the Tiger holds, and what it is to Yang Fire
Each branch holds one to three stems. The ones under your own day master are the closest things to you in the chart.
- Yang Wood (Jia, 甲), the main one — Indirect Resource (Pian Yin, 偏印). What produces you, same polarity. Support of an indirect kind — the tradition treats it as nourishment that can also crowd out the Eating God (食神).
- Yang Fire (Bing, 丙) — Friend (Bi Jian, 比肩). Same element, same polarity as you. A peer: someone standing where you stand, competing for the same thing and equally able to share the load.
- Yang Earth (Wu, 戊) — Eating God (Shi Shen, 食神). What you produce, same polarity. Output that comes easily: making, feeding, expressing, without strain.

Rat hour 23:00–01:00 · Yang Earth Rat (Wu Zi, 戊子)
born in Rabbit (卯) or Ox (丑) months, pure and noble. Tiger (寅) and Dog (戌), ordinary. A summer month with the self strong is favourable only where the pillars hold Water and Metal. A Rat (子) month is Direct Officer (正官), greatly noble. It dislikes a Water Snake (癸巳) month, punishment; a Water Pig (癸亥) month, a bad death; an Earth Rooster (己酉) month, great ruin.
生卯丑月，清贵。寅戌，平常。夏月身旺，柱有水金方吉。子月正官，大贵。忌癸巳月，刑；癸亥月，恶死；己酉月，大败。
Ox hour 01:00–03:00 · Yin Earth Ox (Ji Chou, 己丑)
ordinary; born in a Wood Rooster (乙酉) month it is the Direct Wealth (正财) pattern, and with Yin Wood (乙) and Yang Metal (庚) hale and strong, noble. Snake (巳) and Ox (丑) in year or month with officer and Resource (印) showing at the stems, noble.
平常，生乙酉月，正财格，有乙庚健旺者贵。巳丑年月，干透官印者贵。
Tiger hour 03:00–05:00 · Yang Metal Tiger (Geng Yin, 庚寅)
noble but not for long. Born in a Rooster (酉) or Monkey (申) year or month, a cold post through the generations. Rat (子), Ox (丑), Tiger (寅) and Goat (未), conspicuously noble. Pure Tiger, better still.
贵不久。生酉申年月，世裔冷职。子丑寅未，贵显。纯寅尤吉。
Rabbit hour 05:00–07:00 · Yin Metal Rabbit (Xin Mao, 辛卯)
no ancestors, standing on its own; ailments of the limbs and body. Tiger (寅), Rabbit (卯), Goat (未) and Rat (子) months, noble. Other months middling, and the year period likewise.
无祖自立，有肢体疾。寅卯未子月，贵。余月平，岁运同。
Dragon hour 07:00–09:00 · Yang Water Dragon (Ren Chen, 壬辰)
self and Killings (煞) both strong; Tiger (寅), Rabbit (卯), Dragon (辰), Ox (丑) and Goat (未) in year or month, greatly noble. Snake (巳), Horse (午) and Dog (戌) in year or month also noble.
身煞两旺，寅卯辰丑未年月，大贵。巳午戌年月亦贵。
Snake hour 09:00–11:00 · Yin Water Snake (Gui Si, 癸巳)
a spring month with no Water at stem or branch, advancement in letters and the embroidered robe, honour to the wife and shade to the children. Rabbit (卯), Dog (戌), Monkey (申) and Rooster (酉) in year or month, second or third grade.
春月，干支无水，文进绣衣，荣妻荫子。卯戌申酉年月，二三品贵。
Horse hour 11:00–13:00 · Yang Wood Horse (Jia Wu, 甲午)
born in Dragon (辰), Dog (戌), Ox (丑) or Goat (未) months, the Fire qi subdued above and the making held in the mean — noble. A Horse (午) month, the Fire too strong, ill.
生辰戌丑未月，上伏火气，造化得中贵。午月，火太旺，凶。
Goat hour 13:00–15:00 · Yin Wood Goat (Yi Wei, 乙未)
born in Rabbit (卯) or Goat (未) months, the Direct Resource (印绶) pattern, wisdom rich and thick, wife and children hard to keep. Tiger (寅), Snake (巳), Rat (子) and Dragon (辰) in year or month, noble.

Monkey hour 15:00–17:00 · Yang Fire Monkey (Bing Shen, 丙申)
hour and day face and clash — grief over wife and children; carrying a month of Fire qi and running a period where the self is strong, favourable. A Pig (亥) month, a handicraft.

Rooster hour 17:00–19:00 · Yin Fire Rooster (Ding You, 丁酉)
Rabbit (卯), Pig (亥) and Goat (未) in year or month with officer or Killings (煞) showing at the stems, noble. Other months have a craft, ordinary.
卯亥未年月，干透官煞者贵。余月有艺，平常。
Dog hour 19:00–21:00 · Yang Earth Dog (Wu Xu, 戊戌)
the Eating God (食神) of the temple hall. Yang Fire (丙) takes Yang Earth (戊) as its Eating God and star of long life; upon Dog (戌) the Yang Fire enters its vault and the Yang Earth holds its own position. If it carries a month of Fire qi and a southeastern period, the blessing is thick and there is long life; not carrying it, ordinary.
庙堂食神，丙以戊为食神寿星，戌上丙火入库，戊土专位，若通火气月及东南运，福厚有寿；不通，平常。
Pig hour 21:00–23:00 · Yin Earth Pig (Ji Hai, 己亥)
born in summer, the ghost turns into the officer, the wife worthy and the children filial; if not noble then wealthy. Tiger (寅), Rabbit (卯), Dragon (辰), Snake (巳), Monkey (申) and Ox (丑) in year or month, or Horse (午) and Dog (戌) gathering into a frame, with Yang Fire (丙) and Dog showing at the stems besides, it governs great authority and rank.
夏生，化鬼为官，妻贤子孝，不贵则富。寅卯辰巳申丑年月，或午戌会局，天干更透丙戌字，主大权贵。
