Rob Wealth (Jie Cai, 劫财)

Same element, opposite polarity. A peer who takes rather than shares — the tradition reads it as what draws on your resources through people close to you.

The ten gods are the relationships between your day master — the element of the day you were born — and every other character in a BaZi chart, worked out from which element produces or controls which, and whether the two share a polarity. Rob Wealth pairs with Friend: together, peers and rivals.

What the classic Yuan Hai Zi Ping (渊海子平) says

Its section On Rob Wealth (论劫财), whole.

Also called the blade turned back (逆刃): Yin Wood (乙) meeting Yang Wood (甲) is Rob Wealth (劫财). Yin Wood takes Yang Metal (庚) as its husband, and a Yang Fire (丙) present controls that Yang Metal — so it harms the husband; in a man's chart it harms the wife. One of the five yang stems meeting one of the five yin is Losing Wealth (败财), and it governs harm to wife and children. One of the five yin meeting one of the five yang is Rob Wealth, and it governs loss and waste, and small people to guard against — but it does not harm the wife. Yin Wood takes Yang Earth (戊) and Yin Earth (己) as its Wealth (财), and a Yang Wood present seizes the Yin Earth and spoils the Yang Earth; Yin Fire (丁) takes Yang Metal and Yin Metal (辛) as its Wealth, and a Yang Fire can seize the Yin Metal and break the Yang Metal. The rest follow the same pattern. When an elder brother meets a younger, the younger can spoil the elder's wealth and take his wife. When a younger meets an elder, the elder can rob the younger's wealth but does not dare take his wife. Wealth is what people want, and set between brothers there is mostly contention — how many are Bo Yi (伯夷) and Shu Qi (叔齐), who yielded a kingdom to each other? A man's chart with much Rob Wealth often harms the wife. That is the extreme statement of it.

One clause here fixes a woman’s outcome by her sex; it is left out, in the Chinese as well as the English, as everywhere on this site.
