Yin Water (Gui, 癸) day master: The Mist

Water in the 1st month comes after the three yang: the essence of rain and dew, and yielding in the extreme. Use Yin Metal (辛) first to produce the source of the Yin Water (癸), then Yang Fire (丙) to shine warm on it — that is called yin and yang in accord, and everything comes to life. Yin Metal and Yang Fire both showing means a name on the golden roll.

正月癸水，值三陽之後，雨露之精，其性至柔，先用辛金，生癸水之源，次用丙火照暖，名陰陽和合，萬物發生，辛丙兩透，金榜有名。

Water in the 2nd month is neither hard nor soft. Yin Wood (乙) holds the season and drains the original spirit, so use Yang Metal (庚) in particular as the useful element (用神), with Yin Metal (辛) next. Yang Metal and Yin Metal both showing, and no Yin Fire (丁) showing in the stems, means rank by the examinations; neither, an ordinary person.

二月葵水，不剛不柔，乙木司令，洩弱元神，專用庚金為用，辛金次之，庚辛俱透，無丁出乾者，貴由科甲，無庚辛者常人。

Water in the 3rd month must be divided at Clear and Bright (清明) and Grain Rain (穀雨). After Clear and Bright the Fire is not yet fierce, so use Yang Fire (丙) in particular, which is yin and yang in accord. After Grain Rain, though Yang Fire is still used, Yin Metal (辛) and Yang Wood (甲) should support it — as in Metal Rabbit (辛卯), Water Dragon (壬辰), Water Goat (癸未), Fire Dragon (丙辰). Born in the first half of the month, Yang Fire brings prominence; born in the second, the Yin Metal and Yin Water (癸) must not be hurt, and only then is it fine — though Yang Fire cannot be spared either.

三月癸水，要分清明穀雨，清明後，火氣未熾，專用丙火，為陰陽合諧，穀雨後，雖用丙火，尚宜辛甲佐之，如辛卯，壬辰，癸未，丙辰，生上半月，用丙火，顯達，生下半月，必無傷辛金癸水，方妙，然丙亦不可少，用丙，木妻水子。

Water in the 4th month welcomes Yin Metal (辛) as its useful element (用神); without Yin Metal, use Yang Metal (庚). If the Yin Metal shows high with no Yin Fire (丁) present, and a Yang Water (壬) showing as well, the name is honoured and heard at a distance. A Yin Fire breaking the pattern means poverty without a foot of ground, unless a Yang Water saves it. Yin Metal hidden with no Yin Fire means the academy and a livelihood.

四月癸水，喜辛金為用，無辛用庚，若辛高透，不見丁火，加以壬透，主科名榮貴，聲播四夷，若有丁破格，貧無立錐，有壬可免，辛藏無丁，貢監衣衿。

Water in the 5th month is weak to the point of rootlessness, and Yang Metal (庚) or Yin Metal (辛) must be the root of the self. But Yin Fire (丁) holds power, and Metal is no match for Fire — how then is the Yin Water (癸) to be fed? A companion stem is wanted, and only then does the Yin Metal serve. In this month Yang Metal, Yin Metal and Yang Water (壬) may be brought in together.

五月癸水，至弱無根，必須庚辛為生身之本，但丁火司權，金難敵火，安能滋養癸水，宜見比劫，方得辛金之用，五月癸水，庚辛壬參酌並用可也。

Water in the 6th month divides into first and second half: in the second, Yang Metal (庚) and Yin Metal (辛) have force; in the first they are spent. The reason so many Yin Water (癸) days do not read true is that Goat (未) holds Yin Wood (乙) and Snake (巳) in the same seat, so it is broken and not broken, and the Yin Water cannot follow the Killings (殺) — which is why Yang Metal and Yin Metal are used in particular. In the first half, with the Metal spirit weak and the Fire fierce, a companion stem is wanted to help the self, and then wealth and rank may be spoken of, as in the 5th month. In the second half, with Yang Metal and Yin Metal in force, even without a companion it will do; and Yin Fire (丁) showing is to be avoided.

六月癸水，有上下月之分，下半月庚辛有氣，上半月庚辛休囚，凡六癸日，多不驗者，何也，俗士不知此理，因未中有乙巳同宮，破而不破，故癸水不能從殺，所以專用庚辛，如上半月金神衰弱，火氣炎烈，宜比劫助身，可云富貴，與五月一理，下半月庚辛有氣，即無比劫亦可，又忌丁透，即丁在支亦不吉，其生克制化，與五月略同。

Water in the 7th month: the mother strong and the child thriving. The Yin Water (癸) may be said to die at Monkey (申), but Monkey holds a Yang Metal (庚) that produces it — called meeting life in the place of death — and what was weak turns strong; even a fortune running north-west will not kill it. But Yang Metal holds the season and is hard and sharp in the extreme, so Yin Fire (丁) must be taken as the useful element (用神). Yin Fire showing with a Yang Wood (甲) is called fire with a flame, and means the examinations. Yin Fire showing without Yang Wood, and no Yang Water (壬) or Yin Water, with a Yang Metal or two, still means advancement; two Yin Fire are better still. Much Metal and no Yin Fire to check it makes a poor and straitened person.

七月癸水，正母旺子相之時，癸雖死申，殊不知申中有庚生之，名死處逢生，弱中複強，即運行西北，亦不死也，但庚司令，剛銳極矣，必取丁火為用，或丁透有甲，名有焰之火，必主科甲，或丁透無甲，又無壬癸，即有一二庚金，亦有生監，有二丁更妙，或金多乏丁制者，貧困之人。

Water in the 8th month: the Yin Metal (辛) is fine and quick, not to be compared with blunt Metal — Metal white and Water clear. So take Yin Metal as the useful element (用神), with Yang Fire (丙) in support: that is called the Water warm and the Metal mild. If the Yang Fire and the Yin Metal show a place apart from each other, the examinations and a name; Yang Fire showing with Yin Metal hidden, a place on the roll. Much Earth checking the Water means a life in trade.

八月癸水，辛金虛靈，非頑金可比，正金白水清，故取辛金為用，丙火佐之，名水暖金溫，如丙與辛隔位同透，主科甲功名，或丙透辛藏，一榜之士，或土多克水，生意中心，八月癸水，丙辛怕用。

Water in the 9th month has lost its season and has no root, and Yang Earth (戊) holds power and checks it too far. Use Yin Metal (辛) in particular to open the source of the Water, and a companion stem is wanted to feed a Yang Wood (甲) that checks the Yang Earth — only then is it fine.

九月癸水，失令無根，戊土司權，克制太過，專用辛金發水之源，要比肩滋甲制戊方妙。

Water in the 10th month is strong with a weakness inside it — because the Pig (亥) shakes the Wood, which drains and scatters the original spirit. Yang Metal (庚) and Yin Metal (辛) are what serve. Yang Metal and Yin Metal both showing, with no Yin Fire (丁) to hurt them, means a name and standing.

十月癸水，旺中有弱，何也，因亥搖木，洩散元神，宜用庚辛為妙，得庚辛兩透，不見丁傷者，功名有准。

Water in the 11th month falls in the season of ice, and Metal and Water have no meeting of pleasure. Use Yang Fire (丙) in particular to thaw it, so that it does not turn to ice, and Yin Metal (辛) as well to feed it. Yang Fire without Yin Metal is not fine. In any winter month, a Yin Water (癸) with a Yang Fire showing to thaw it has the Metal mild and the Water warm, each producing the other; and with no Yang Water (壬) showing, a place in the examinations follows of itself.

十一月癸水，值冰凍之時，金水無交歡之象，專用丙火解凍，庶不致成冰，又要辛金滋扶，無丙有辛，不妙，凡冬季癸水，有丙透解凍，則金溫水暖，兩兩相生，要不見壬透，自然登科及第，紫誥金章。

Water in the 12th month: cold to the point of ice, and nothing can stretch or thrive. Yang Fire (丙) is wanted to thaw it. With a Yang Fire showing in the year or hour, a Yang Water (壬) showing as well, and much Yang Earth (戊) in the branches, it is called Water carrying the sunlight, and means a prominent officer. Without Yang Earth, office by an irregular road; Yang Fire without Yang Water, a scholar at the college gate; Yang Water without Yang Fire, and a Yang Earth showing in the stems, a runner in a yamen.

十二月癸水，寒極成冰，萬物不能舒泰，宜丙火解凍，或丙透年時，加以壬透，支中多戊，名水輔陽光，主顯達名臣，無戊者，異途之職，若有丙無壬，黌門之客，有壬無丙，戊又出乾者，皂隸之流。

The six Yin Water (癸) days born at the Water Rat (壬子) hour: getting the road to the blue cloud, most remarkable; if there is no Yin Earth (己) to clash, control and break it, there is naturally a time when merit and name come to prominence. For a Yin Water day at the Water Rat hour: the day's prosperity star (禄) returning at the hour. Yin Water has its Established Prosperity (建禄) upon Rat (子); if the stems and branches of year and month have no Yang Earth (戊), Yin Earth, Horse (午) or Goat (未) character to punish, clash, break or harm it, and the three origins have something to lean on and it carries the month qi, the writing is fine and handsome and the office comes to prominence; carrying a month of Wood qi, also noble. As where the pillars show a Yin Earth with a Yang Wood (甲) to bind it, also noble; otherwise, reversals. Water Ox (癸丑) day at the Water Rat hour: Horse, Tiger (寅), Wood Ox (乙丑) and Earth Ox (己丑) in year or month, a civil post of the fourth or fifth grade; carrying a month where the self is strong in Wood qi with no Yang Earth, Yin Earth, Horse or Snake (巳) character, conspicuously noble. Goat, the censorate. Snake and Horse, a graduate. It dislikes Water Tiger (壬寅), Wood Goat (乙未) and Metal Dog (庚戌) months, all punishment; a Wood Ox month, low and base. Water Rabbit (癸卯) day at the Water Rat hour: hour and day punish each other, injuring the wife and harming the children, close to the noble; with no Yin Earth, awe and authority. If Pig (亥) and Snake are both complete, a graduate in the black-robed offices. Pure Tiger in year and month, Hurting Officer (伤官) producing wealth — if not greatly noble then greatly wealthy. It dislikes a Wood Dragon (甲辰) month, cruel punishment and solitude; a Fire Monkey (丙申) month, a cruel and evil death; an Earth Ox month, punishment. Water Snake (癸巳) day at the Water Rat hour: spring and summer, money and blessing come out; Dragon (辰), Dog (戌), Ox (丑) and Goat, if not noble then wealthy at the last. It dislikes an Earth Tiger (戊寅) month, meeting punishment; an Earth Monkey (戊申) month, taking punishment; an Earth Rooster (己酉) month, a beggar. Water Goat (癸未) day at the Water Rat hour: Monkey (申) and Rooster (酉) months, noble. Dog and Pig, great wealth and rank. Tiger and Rabbit (卯), solitary. Dragon and Snake, ill. It dislikes a Water Monkey (壬申) month, the body not whole, ill; a Metal Dragon (庚辰) month, cruel punishment; a Wood Ox month, losing the land and a bad death. Water Rooster (癸酉) day at the Water Rat hour: going and staying, advancing and retreating; few children and the wife's household hard to keep. It dislikes a Fire Tiger (丙寅) month, dying without a whole body; a Wood Snake (乙巳) month, great ruin and a bad death; a Fire Rooster (丁酉) month, death by hanging. Water Pig (癸亥) day at the Water Rat hour: noble. Born in a Pig month, the Flying Prosperity Horse (飞天禄马), passing the examinations and taking the first degree, greatly noble. Also Yin Water's prosperity star resides at Rat and Yang Water (壬)'s prosperity star at Pig — day and hour exchanged, third or fourth grade, noble. It dislikes an Earth Tiger month, dying without a whole body; an Earth Monkey month, solitary and poor; an Earth Rooster month, solitary and bitter. Verse: the day's prosperity star returning at the hour, got within the frame — the Eating God (食神) is glad to meet it and fears punishment and clash; do not say Hurting Officer injures a wealth period: where the officer is not added, the wealth is not rich. Verse: a Yin Water day with Water Rat at the hour — named the same as the Returning Prosperity (归禄) pattern. A household gate of white cottages still towers; the Black Tortoise (玄武) holding authority, the prosperity star weighty. Water clear, the treasure vase the fuller; writing broadly read and much run through. Glory and promotion, a history, the imperial secretariat (紫薇) enfeoffment — Yang Wood, Horse, Tiger and Pig break and stir it.

The six Yin Water (癸) days born at the Water Ox (癸丑) hour: within the branch a hidden ghost with punishment and injury; where the month runs through with the self strong, guard against damage to the wife, and Ox (丑) and Snake (巳) binding at a distance is noble beyond the ordinary. For a Yin Water day at the Water Ox hour: the branch gets the hidden ghost. Yin Water takes Yin Earth (己) as its Seven Killings (偏官), and within Ox the hidden Yin Earth has its position; Yin Water takes Yin Fire (丁) as wife, and the Yin Fire within Ox has no qi. If it carries a month where the self is strong with Friend (比肩), guard against damage to wife and wealth. Where the pillars have many Ox and Tiger (寅), the Tiger punishes Snake and the Ox binds Snake, punishing out the Yang Fire (丙) and Yang Earth (戊) within Snake as wealth and officer; there must be no Yang Earth or Yin Earth character at the head of the stems, and then greatly noble. It dislikes Snake, Goat (未) and Rabbit (卯) breaking the pattern. Water Ox day at the Water Ox hour: the Ox reaching at a distance for the Yang Fire and Yang Earth within Snake as wealth and officer; if born in a year or month with Ox, Tiger, Monkey (申), Rat (子) or Rooster (酉) in triad, it governs a worthy wife and filial children, glory, nobility and outstanding parts; Fire and Earth periods, ill; Metal and Water periods, favourable. Water Rabbit (癸卯) day at the Water Ox hour: the Noble Day (日贵) pattern, the self solitary and harmed, and it governs nobility. Ox, Tiger and Dragon (辰) in year or month, with no Yang Earth, Yin Earth, Snake, Horse (午) or Rabbit character at stem or branch, the highest grade. Water Snake (癸巳) day at the Water Ox hour: the blessing, virtue and fine qi (福德秀气) pattern, learning and cleverness, outstanding talent, noble. If pure Ox and Snake in year and month, greatly noble. Water Goat (癸未) day at the Water Ox hour: Rat, Ox and Tiger in year or month, noble, wealthy in middle age. A Rabbit month running Metal and Water periods, the highest grade. Dragon and Dog (戌), the four vaults complete, greatly noble. Water Rooster (癸酉) day at the Water Ox hour: the blessing, virtue and fine qi pattern, learning deep at its source, going and staying, advancing and retreating, the wife's household hard to keep. Water Pig (癸亥) day at the Water Ox hour: the Flanked Prosperity (拱禄) pattern; it fears clash, breaking and being filled in solid; where the pillars have no Rat, Snake, Horse or Goat character, greatly noble. Tiger, Horse and Dog months with a southern period, sixth or seventh grade. Verse: yin Water layer on layer, the hour gathers the vault — in youth it is hard to come out, do not force it; bearing what comes and passing beyond middle age, he sits at ease in a high hall and lets his hair go white. Verse: a Yin Water day meeting Water Ox at the hour — the Water flowing, the Metal frame full and clashing. The vault meeting Dog and Goat, the prosperity star (禄) and wealth rich; but empty and wanting, hard to move. Without a key, in youth he does not show; with a key, the prosperity star and horse are in accord. When the period comes, what use is bitter toil of the heart? — it comes out and the household gate greatly rejoices.

六癸日生时癸丑，支中暗鬼有刑伤；月通身旺防妻损，丑巳遥合贵异常。癸日癸丑时，支得隐鬼。癸以己为偏官，丑中有暗己得位，癸以丁为妻，丑中丁火无气，若通身旺比肩之月，防损妻财。柱丑寅多，以寅刑巳，丑合巳，刑出巳中，丙戊为财官，须干头无戊己字，大贵。忌巳未卯破格。癸丑日癸丑时，丑遥巳中丙戊为财官，若生丑寅申子酉三合年月，主妻贤于孝，荣贵特达；火土运凶；金水运吉。癸卯日癸丑时，日贵格，身孤克，主贵。丑寅辰年月，干支无戊己巳午卯字，极品。癸巳日癸丑时，福德秀气格，学问聪明，英才特达，贵。若纯丑巳年月，大贵。癸未日癸丑时，子丑寅年月，贵，中年富。卯月，行金水运，极品。辰戌，四库全，大贵。癸酉日癸丑时，福德秀气格，学问渊源，行藏进退，难为妻家。癸亥日癸丑时，拱禄格，怕冲破、填实，柱无子巳午未字，大贵。寅午戌月，南方运，六七品。阴水重重时库收，少年难发莫强求；将(?)来受过中年后，安坐高堂任白头。癸日时逢癸丑，水流金局盈冲，库逢戌未禄财丰，不过空乏难动。无匙少年不显，有匙禄马和同，运来何用苦劳心，发达门庭大庆。

The six Yin Water (癸) days born at the Wood Tiger (甲寅) hour: the blade again, and officer and the prosperity star (禄) lessen the spirit; where the pillars have no Yang Metal (庚) or Monkey (申) character, punishing and binding wealth and officer, he is a noble one. For a Yin Water day at the Wood Tiger hour: punishing and binding wealth and officer. Yin Water takes Yang Fire (丙) as wealth and Yang Earth (戊) as officer; the Tiger (寅) punishes out the Yang Fire and Yang Earth within Snake (巳) as wealth and officer. If the pillars have no officer or Killings (煞), and no punishment, clash, breaking or harm to damage the pattern, noble; with Yang Metal, Monkey, Yang Earth or Yin Earth (己) characters and nothing to check them, not noble. Water Ox (癸丑) day at the Wood Tiger hour: noble in itself, but within Ox (丑) there is Yin Metal (辛), which lessens its measure. Pure Water in year and month, office to the first grade. Born in autumn, Direct Resource (印绶), also noble. A Dragon (辰) month running an eastern period, poor and low. Pure Monkey breaking the Tiger, ill. Water Rabbit (癸卯) day at the Wood Tiger hour: Pig (亥), Rabbit (卯) and Goat (未) months, most noble. Tiger and Rabbit in year or month, the punishing-binding pattern, marquis or earl. Tiger and Pig, fourth grade. A Tiger month with a western period, gold and purple. Ox, Dog (戌), Dragon and Snake, also noble. Water Snake (癸巳) day at the Wood Tiger hour: middling; carrying a month where the self is strong, greatly noble. It dislikes Yang Earth, Yin Earth, Yang Metal and Monkey characters, and the year period likewise. Water Goat (癸未) day at the Wood Tiger hour: it governs the fine and solid, conspicuously noble in middle age. If born in an Earth Goat (己未) or Earth Snake (己巳) year or month, military nobility. Water Rooster (癸酉) day at the Wood Tiger hour: the Metal Spirit (金神) pattern. Tiger, Horse (午) and Dog months, knitting a Fire frame, conspicuously noble and outstanding, office to the second or third grade. It dislikes an Ox year, not noble. Snake, Goat, Pig and Rat (子) in year or month, wealthy and long-lived. Dragon and Ox with Yang Wood (甲) and Yin Fire (丁) showing at the stems, ill. Water Pig (癸亥) day at the Wood Tiger hour: Rat, Ox, Goat and Monkey months, a graduate; the period running Metal and Water, the censorate. Rabbit and Dog in year or month, the branches in six harmony (六合), noble. Verse: Wood Tiger on a Yin Water day, Yang Earth and Yang Fire opened — in youth he has not met his chance and sinks and is buried; if the four pillars still have no clash or breaking, he walks level up the cloud to the department terrace. Verse: a Yin Water day at the Tiger hour, control answering — branch and stem binding together, glorious. If there is no Yang Water (壬), Yin Earth, Yang Earth, Yang Metal or Monkey, wealth and the prosperity star must be rich and moist. The period reaching the imperial province, coming to prominence; his writing marks his name on the tiger roll. But let one character be slightly void or clashing, and it harms the children, injures the Eating God (食) and strips the stipend.

The six Yin Water (癸) days born at the Wood Rabbit (乙卯) hour: ground of long life meeting the Eating God (食神); where the crowd has no Horse (午) or Rooster (酉) and no Yin Metal (辛) or Snake (巳), a person of blessing, long life and the prosperity star (禄) position, both complete. For a Yin Water day at the Wood Rabbit hour: the Eating God strong at the stem. Yin Water takes Yin Wood (乙) as its hall of learning and Eating God; upon Rabbit (卯) the Yin Water has its long life and the Yin Wood sits on its prosperity star. Where the pillars have no Yin Earth (己) to break it and no Yin Metal to seize it, and no Horse or Rooster to punish or clash, and it carries the month qi with something to lean on, it governs cleverness and long life, holding office and eating its prosperity star; if there is Yin Earth, not noble. Born in a spring month with a northern period, coming to prominence. Water Ox (癸丑) day at the Wood Rabbit hour: Dragon (辰) and Ox (丑) months, highly noble. One account says low when young and noble in middle age. Water Rabbit (癸卯) day at the Wood Rabbit hour: hardship. Born in Tiger (寅) or Rabbit months, the Hurting Officer (伤官) pattern, wealth and rank hard to speak of. Goat (未) and Dog (戌) in year or month, a craft, close to the noble. Dragon and Ox, favourable. Earth Ox (己丑) and Fire Rat (丙子), ill. Water Snake (癸巳) day at the Wood Rabbit hour: wealth and officer both fine; spring Hurting Officer, summer the wealth strong, autumn the Resource (印) settled, winter ordinary. Three layers of snake and horse face the court in order, coming and going on the jade hall and the golden stair. Yang Water (壬), Pig, Monkey (申) and Tiger halve it; the only grief is the period falling on the Void (空亡). The flower falls, blooms again and sets fruit; both parents, the wild-goose companions, hard to keep in accord. Even so, poor first and rich after — casting off the old and greeting the new, without hindrance.

With nothing to lean on in the pillars, then rest content in poverty; meeting wealth and officer in the month is fitting too. The only fear is that the Yin Water loses its ground and cannot drive the team — how then should it prevail? The six relations, bone and flesh, each to west and east; a destiny of toil and hardship its whole life.

六癸日生时辛酉，自身失地更何有；支中明暗被辛伤，无助利名终不就。癸日辛酉时，明暗枭神。癸见辛为倒食，酉上辛建旺，癸失地，若无倚托救助者，遇贵生涯；有倚托则吉。癸丑日辛酉时，秋月，印绶格，行官煞运，吉。冬，福禄双全。子寅年月，干头无戊己字，贵。癸卯日辛酉时，日贵格，辰戌丑未月，贵。子卯年月，大贵。巳午，亦贵。又云不利妻子。癸巳日辛酉时，孤。寅卯年，辰戌丑未月，贵。子午卯酉，中贵。寅申巳亥，最贵。癸未日辛酉时，春贫，夏先难后易，秋吉，冬贵。癸酉日辛酉时，申酉月，印绶多，能守祖，破妻家。子巳午月，干透庚辛，禄贵印绶俱全，贵不可言。寅戌，腰金。午亥，大贵。丑月，煞重凶夭。癸亥日辛酉时，戌月，行东南运，金紫；东北，风宪。子月建禄，年遇财官，大贵。天元是癸时申酉，用尽心机度日忙；官印相生逢印合，胸中便富且如常。癸日辛酉时遇，倒食偏印难禁，柱中无依且安贫，财官月遇亦称。只怕癸水失地，不能驱驾奚胜，六亲骨肉各西东，一生劳苦之命。

The six Yin Water (癸) days born at the Water Dog (壬戌) hour (the verse writes born on the day (生日), where the others write born at the hour (生时)): within the branch the Direct Officer (正官) producing, and the wealth vault; the month having rescue as well, nobility mostly comes about — if there is nothing to lean on, in the end not wealthy. For a Yin Water day at the Water Dog hour: Water and Fire completing each other. Yin Water uses Yang Fire (丙) and Yin Fire (丁) as wealth and Yang Earth (戊) Earth (土) as officer, and the Yang Earth binds with the Yin Water and is strong. He is a person of wits and plans; running through the month qi with something to lean on, noble; not running through, ordinary; running through a Fire and Earth month qi, wealth and rank both complete; the period qi running through, also favourable. Water Ox (癸丑) day at the Water Dog hour: punishment. A Pig (亥) month, Earth thick, noble in that quarter. Dragon (辰) and Monkey (申) in year or month with a southern period, first in the examination. The fifth month with a southern period, chief censor. If born in spring or autumn with a southern period, eighth or ninth grade. Water Rabbit (癸卯) day at the Water Dog hour: the Noble Day (日贵) pattern; Tiger (寅) and Snake (巳) in year or month with Yang Earth and Yin Fire showing at the stems as wealth and officer and strong with it, greatly noble and holding authority. Rabbit (卯), Dragon, Ox (丑), Horse (午) and Rat (子) in year or month, noble by letters. Rooster (酉) and Dog (戌) with a Metal and Earth period, fifth or sixth grade. Water Snake (癸巳) day at the Water Dog hour: wealth and officer both fine; spring level, summer, autumn and winter noble. Dragon, Ox, Goat (未), Tiger and Rooster in year or month, the censorate. Water Goat (癸未) day at the Water Dog hour: punishment. Born in a Snake month, third or fourth grade. Rat and Yang Metal (庚) in year or month, noble in close attendance. Water Rooster (癸酉) day at the Water Dog hour: Pig and Rat months, talent and wit high and noble, a worthy wife and filial children. Spring, ordinary. Water Pig (癸亥) day at the Water Dog hour: born in spring, the Hurting Officer (伤官) seeing the officer; summer the wealth strong; autumn and winter favourable, name and profit coming to something. Dog and Dragon months running a Pig or Rat period, noble. A Rat month running a south-western period, gold and purple. Verse: the Nobleman (天乙) with Yang Water (壬) and Yin Water set at the Dog hour — within the vault, wealth and officer wait for the key to open; not meeting punishment and clash, it stays locked shut for nothing, and in youth he is hard put to rise, and calamity is born besides. Verse: a Yin Water day meeting Water Dog at the hour — within it the granary and the vault brim over. The General’s Star (将星) and the Heavenly Virtue (天德) support each other; Dragon and Dog are the key that helps it open. Earth strong and the long-flowing Water frame; where the six relations are kind, it turns distant. Not meeting the Void (空亡), there is increase and surplus — glory in the middle years and at the last, and blessing enjoyed.

The six Yin Water (癸) days born at the Water Pig (癸亥) hour: the prosperity and the Horse and flying to heaven (禄马飞天) coming to the strong spirit; not seeing the officer star, and nothing to entangle it, he must be of a noble pattern, a person beyond the ordinary. For a Yin Water day at the Water Pig hour: the prosperity and the Horse and flying to heaven pattern. The Yin Water is hale and strong upon Pig (亥); Yin Water uses Yang Earth (戊) as officer and Yang Fire (丙) as wealth, and within Pig both the Yang Fire and the Yang Earth are cut off, so the Yin Water has neither wealth nor officer — but the Pig goes and clashes out the Yang Fire and Yang Earth within Snake (巳), and they fly over to the Yin Water as wealth and officer. Where the pillars have no Yang Earth or Yin Earth (己) to entangle it and no officer star to break the prosperity star (禄), and if Yang Metal (庚) or Yin Metal (辛) is seen, pure white and flourishing, a person of wisdom, noble as the head of a region. Water Ox (癸丑) day at the Water Pig hour: it makes the Flanked Prosperity (拱禄) pattern. Born in Snake, Rooster (酉) or Ox (丑), the blessing, virtue and fine qi (福德秀气). A Horse (午) month, ordinary. An autumn month with an eastern period, seventh or eighth grade; with the Direct Resource (正印) and the Direct Officer (正官) showing at the stems, gold and purple. Water Rooster (癸酉) day at the Water Pig hour: Dragon, Dog, Ox and Goat months, his livelihood goes as he wishes. A Rooster month running a north-eastern period, eighth or ninth grade. A Monkey month with an eastern period, fifth grade. Water Pig day at the Water Pig hour: the nature clever and free-floating, great wealth in middle age. Born in a winter month, the Flying Prosperity Horse (飞天禄马); with no Yang Earth, Snake or Rat character to fill it in solid or entangle it, conspicuously noble; otherwise solitary and harmed, a monk or a Daoist, though it still governs the pure and high. Dragon and Pig in year or month with Yin Metal and Yang Water (壬) showing at the stems and no Snake character filling it in solid, he has wisdom and measure, greatly noble. A Rabbit month, gold and purple. Snake and Ox, also noble. Verse: yin Water layer on layer, showing through as waves on the sea — in youth he has not met his chance and stumbles along; the trapped dragon, getting his will, is then able to transform; not meeting his time, the tiger lies on the slope. Verse: a Yin Water day meeting Water Pig at the hour — the Losing Wealth (败财) carrying the prosperity star, and it goes through freely. It is glad of autumn and summer and shuns spring and winter; Yang Earth, Yang Fire, Yang Metal and Wood, wealth flourishing. Snake, Pig, Yang Wood (甲) and Yang Fire, reversals; the six relations greatly out of accord. The self unsettled and fond of tumbling about; a destiny that fails first and succeeds after. The compiler's note that closes the collection: of the destinies above, six parts in ten are from the original book and four parts in ten are added; here and there one destiny is carried twice, which is the error of hearsay — how could one say there is none of it? What matters is that one who knows destiny should weigh them out by their sense.
